1984 Toyota Camry

  Toyota finally brought out a front-wheel-drive family car for the US with the Camry. Honda had been doing it for years, as had most of Europe. GM was in a similar position as Toyota at the time, in that they were both conservative-minded car companies betting big on new tech. GM gave the world the Citation, and Toyota built the Camry.

Here is one in Fort Greene last summer, looking absolutely beautiful.

    i’ve been trying futilely to track the quote down for years, but i distinctly remember LJK setright at the time praising this car’s unusually fine proportions. a discerning eye!
